About Us
Georgetown Records
We also host culture
Spinning since 2004 — born in the heart of Georgetown and raised on loud guitars, deep cuts, and pure love for vinyl. We started as an independent neighborhood shop, and that’s exactly what we still are: no big labels, no corporate playlists — just real music for real people.
We sell more than records — we sell stories, soundtracks, and soul. Alongside our good friends at Fantagraphics Books, we host live shows, book signings, and art events that keep the creative pulse of the neighborhood alive.
Our bins change every week and cover everything from punk and garage rock to Middle Eastern grooves, jazz, country, and classic rock. If it moves us, it’s here.
We live for this. We love music. Always.
Mike McCready, November 2008
Mike McCready spent the day as a temporary employee, helping sell the vinyl you love. All in a day’s work for
the plucky lad — everyone’s gotta start somewhere.
Winston Jarrett, October 2008
Jeff Ament & Ben Shepherd, December 2008
Jeff Ament and Ben Shepherd dropped by the fabulous Metal Typer. Plenty of bass in the air — and their album picks showed impeccable taste.
Vivian Girls, April 2009
The Vivian Girls stopped by the shop, adding a little indie rock magic to the day.
Jini Delaccio, February 2010
Terri Tarantula played an in-store show today, July 17th, 2010.
Zak Sally
Tad & Brothers of the Sonic Cloth
Mark Pickerel, December 2010
Mark Pickerel dropped by during Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery’s 4th anniversary celebration. True
to form, he played the kick drum with his heel — and kept time on a tambourine with his other foot.
Vince Mira, May 2011
Vince Mira stopped by the shop with his brand-new CD in hand.
The Psychedelic Furs, October 2012
